Presentation Feedback

WWW:
  • Great choice of topic - with a clear primary topic
  • Interesting Focus on us original rather than British version.
  • slides cores good topics but goes into to much detail
  • Some good use of media language- camera shots and low key lighting
  • Lots of rather potential here for further investigation but no detail- gender class , media issues etc.
EBI:
  • Far too much text on screen
  • Focus on male representation - but nothing on women. No reference to main topic yet.
  • one slide of rep of women-  some other links
  • Slides full of text simply do not work - lack of preparation and rehearsal
  • Dont just read the slides to us
  • Not enough focus on topic - what is your argument
Evaluation
My critical investigation is about how females are represented in reality TV programmes which I find interesting as there are many different reality TV programmes with different narrative and ideologies of females and therefore each portray them differently which could be a positive or negative influence to some audiences.  My research helped me a lot with my presentation as I included media terminology relevant theories and background information on the programme as well as examples from different series to back up my points to demonstrate that I have a clear focus. As part of my preparations I didn’t practised a lot so whilst delivering my presentation I did not have the time to say everything I wanted which was costly.  Moreover, the reason why I chose to investigate this topic is because I have an interest in Feminism and therefore I wanted to focus on the way females are represented in reality TV programmes because I believe it is relevant in contemporary society as females are being portrayed in a negative way and the younger generation are being ejected with the wrong impression; only looking at women as a sex object.
As I wanted to stick with reality TV programme I have decided to keep this as my extended academic essay, by improving my knowledge on the question by adding how the representation affects society, reflects a young or older audience, stereotypes and more. Adding to that, i will also be investigating whether this challenges the traditional female stereotype or reinforcing these dominant ideologies?  I think mentioning more media knowledge into my critical investigation would help me improve my presentation and show a better clear understanding of how females are represented in reality TV programmes.
